Sunnats Of Miswaak

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

1.                It is Sunnah to use the Miswaak at the time of every Wudhu
(Abu Dawood, Volume 1, page 8)

2.              The Sunnah method of holding the Miswaak according to what Hazrat Abdullah Ibn Mas’ood (RA) has narrated is as follows:

Place the small finger of the right hand below the Miswaak. Place the thumb below the head of the Miswaak. The remaining three fingers will be placed above.

Al-Wahn

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: "The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people, when eating, invite others to share their food."

Someone asked, "Will that be because of our small numbers at that time?"

He replied, "No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be froth and scum like that carried down by a torrent (of water), and Allah will take the fear of you from the hearts of your enemy and cast al-wahn into your hearts."

Someone asked, "O Messenger of Allah, what is al-wahn?"

He replied, "Love of the world and dislike of death."

Aashura | 10th of Muharram

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

THE DAY OF AASHURA (10th of MUHARRAM)

Hazrat Abdullah ibn Abbaas (Radhiyallaahu Anhu) said: “I did not see Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) anxiously await the fast of any day, which he gave preference to over other days, but this day, the Day of Aashura.”

(Sahih Bukhari)

It is mentioned that when Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) arrived in Madina Munawwarah, he found the Jews fasting on the Day of Aashura and enquired of them: ‘What is this day on which you fast?’

They replied : ‘This is a great day. On this day, Allah saved Musa (عَليْهِ السَّلام) and his people and drowned Fir`aun and his people. Thus Musa (عَليْهِ السَّلام) fasted on this day as a token of thanksgiving, therefore we too fast on this day.”

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: ‘We are more worthy of Musa and nearer to him than you.” Thereafter, Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) fasted on this day and ordered his companions to keep a fast on this day.

BEING DIFFERENT TO THE JEWS

Hazrat Ibn Abbas (Radhiyallaahu Anhu) said:

“When Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) observed the fast of the day of Aashura and ordered (his Companions) to fast, they said: `O Rasulullah! It is a day revered (glorified) by the Jews and Christians.’

Thereupon Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: “The coming year, if Allah wills (I remain alive), I will surely fast on the ninth (also).”

(Muslim)

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said: “Observe the fast of Aashura and oppose the Jews. Fast a day before it or a day after.”

(Bayhaqi)

·        A person should thus fast on the ninth and the tenth or the tenth and the eleventh of Muharram.

FORGIVENESS

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) was asked regarding the fast of the day of Aashura. Rasulullah (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) replied:
“It is a compensation for the (minor) sins of the past year.”

(Sahih Muslim)

GENEROSITY

Nabi (Sallallaahu ‘alayhi wasallam) said:

“One who generously spends on his family on the day of Aashura,
Allah will increase (his provision) for the whole year.”

(Bayhaqi)

(2)               His knowledge; how did he act upon it,
(3)               His Wealth; how did he acquire it (and)
(4)               How did he spend it, and
(5)               His body, how did he use it.’

Book | Durood Shareef

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

EXTRACT

A Great Ibaadah

"One very great Ibaadah that Allah (Jalla Jalaaluhu) has blessed this Ummah with, which is an enjoyable and pleasurable Ibaadah, is the recitation of Durood Shareef and sending Salawaat upon
Nabi (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam).

There are many types of Ibaadah like how there are many types or work and tasks
a person has to do or undertake.

For example, one person is a labourer and has to fulfil many chores, like digging holes, etc. Another person works in an air-conditioned office, in comfort, and has light and easy tasks to fulfil. yet he takes a huge salary.

Similarly, there are two paths of Dien. The one path is that which consists of lots of Mujahadah (striving and effort) and the other is to work a little, but receive great rewards in return.

One of the types of the latter path is the recitation of Durood Shareef. This is such an Ibaadah that can be done in the total comfort of one's home. A person should let the meter of his Durood Shareef run in the comfort of his home and thereby become the Muqarrib (close servant)
of Allah (Jalla Jalaaluhu).

Amongst the closest servants to Allah (Jalla Jalaaluhu) are those who recite Durood Shareef in abundance, and why should it not be so when Allah (Jalla Jalaaluhu) Himself, has made mention of the honourable and lofty status of Nabi (Sallallaahu 'alaihi wasallam) in the Qur`aan Shareef."

The worldly life | Part of the journey

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Rasulullah (Sallallaahu 'alayhi wasallam) said:

“What have I to do with this world? I and this world are as a rider that takes shelter/shade beneath a tree. Then he goes on his way, and leaves it behind him.”

For Protection of One’s Religion, Life, Offspring, Family and Wealth

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem

Hazrat Ma’qal bin Yasaar (RA) narrated that he once expressed his fears to Nabi (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) in regards to five things – being misled or deviating from Siraatul Mustqeem, harm or illness befalling him, Deeni or worldly harm befalling his children, physical or spiritual harm to his wife, loss of income or property.

After listening to his fears, Nabi (Sallallaahu alaihi wa sallam) taught him the following Dua:

(to be read 3 times morning and evening)

Bismillaahi ala Deenie wa nafsie wa waladie wa ahlie wa maalie.

Translation: May the Blessings of Allah be on my religion, myself,
my offspring, my family and my wealth.
